The most likely partner for the Liberals in the current parliament is the New Democratic Party (NDP), which won 25 seats in the recent election. The NDP, which describes itself as a social democratic party, shares many policy priorities with the Liberals, such as affordable housing, climate action, and universal pharmacare.

After the election, the two parties began negotiations on a possible agreement to support the Liberal government. The negotiations reportedly covered a wide range of issues, including healthcare, climate change, childcare, housing, and taxes.

One of the main sticking points in the negotiations was the government`s plan to introduce a new tax on the profits of large corporations. The NDP has been pushing for a higher tax rate and more aggressive measures to crack down on tax evasion, while the Liberals have been more cautious in their approach.

Another issue that has been raised is the need for more affordable housing across the country, especially in major urban areas like Toronto and Vancouver. Both parties have pledged to invest in affordable housing, but the NDP has called for more ambitious targets and more funding for social housing.
